Bosch - the flagship of the Bosch Group in India, a leading supplier of technology and services, reported a standalone net profit of Rs 430.98 crore for the first quarter ended June 2018,rise of 42%. The company had posted a standalone net profit of Rs 302.61crore in the same period last fiscal.

Revenue from operations during the quarter under review was at Rs 3212 crore, rise of 21%.

The company witnessed very good operational performance during the quarter. Margins registered good improvement.

"Bosch Limited had a progressive contribution – globally and locally in theautomotive industry this year. We will continue to make considerable upfront

investments – in the form of capital expenditure, high spending on R&D, andopening new markets. The remaining financial year will see Bosch making

significant innovative additions to the Indian automotive industry," said Mr.Soumitra Bhattacharya, Managing Director, Bosch Limited.

"Bosch is transforming into an end-to-end technology and IoT services provider.With so much potential in our country, we are confident that Bosch Limited willmake positive progress with its connected solutions and integrated mobilityofferings," Mr. Bhattacharya added.

Quarterly Performance

For thefirst quarter ended June 2018, the company's margins witnessed 300 bps rise, mainly due to drop in employee and other expenses. Else, raw material cost including purchase of stocks increased 500 bps to 57.9%. The employee cost (as a % of sales, net of stock) decreased 320 bps to 10%. Other expense (as a % of sales, net of stock) decreased by 270 bps to 13.9%. OPM during the quarter rose 300 bpsto 19.6%(against 16.6%) leading to43%rise in operating profit to Rs 628 crore.

With 11% dropin other income at Rs 114.66 crore, PBIDT rose 31% to Rs 742.83crore. With negligible interest cost at Rs0.01 crore vis a vis Rs 0.51 crorein previous corresponding quarter and 12%drop in depreciation charges at Rs 93.9 crore, profit before taxrose 41%to Rs 648.92crore.After almost 98 bps dropin effective tax rate and 37%rise in tax provision at Rs 217.94 crore, net profit rose 42%to Rs 430.98crore.

Bosch Limited's Mobility Solutions business sector grew by 20.5% during the quarter. Domestic sales increased by 21.7% while export sales registered a

growth of 7.4%. Within the Mobility Solutions business, the PowertrainSolutions business division showed a significant performance registering a strong

double-digit growth of 26.5%.

Powertrain Solutions domestic sales increased by 28.2%, outperforming thedomestic automotive market, which posted a growth of 24.6% in the same

period.

Bosch's business beyond the Mobility Solutions sector registered a double-digitgrowth of 48.9% contributed majorly by Energy business and Power Tools

business division.

The scrip is currently trading around Rs 19,000 at BSE.
