The Chennai based BGR Energy has inked a license cum technology transfer agreement with USA based Nooter/Eriksen Inc (NE) for Design, Manufacture and Sale of Heat Recovery Steam Generator (HRSG) on January 6, 2009. Under the agreement Nooter/Eriksen will transfer HRSG technology and provide technical know-how, technical information and training. The agreement which is for 15 years allows BGR Energy to sell HRSG boilers in India, Srilanka and Bangladesh. NE will provide marketing, sales and technical support to BGR Energy on continuous basis during the agreement period. NE is the world market leader for the past 10 years, especially natural circulation HRSGs with footprints in Americas, Europe, Middle East and Asia with worldwide installations of over 700 HRSGs.
HRSGs will be manufactured at Panjetty, where BGR Energy has a factory. The company proposes to set up additional manufacturing facility in its existing factory at Panjetty near Chennai. The major raw-material for HRSG is High Frequency Welded Finned Tubes which is already manufactured by BGR Group for the last 20 years.
HRSG is used in Gas based Combined Cycle Power plants. The exhaust of gas turbine (simple cycle) has lot of heat energy. HRSG utilizes the heat energy to produce steam. The steam is used to produce power in the Steam Turbine (Combined Cycle).
B. G. Raghupathy, Chairman & Managing Director of BGR Energy commented that “This collaboration with NE, the world leader with state of art technology for HRSG will add additional value to the in-house contribution of EPC contracts of Gas based Combined Cycle Power plants”.
