Indian Rupee: Staying Flat Near Record Low Levels

The Indian rupee is staying flat near record low levels against the dollar in opening trades on Friday as local equities tracking weak cues from other Asian markets. The dollar index futures are steadying just below 105 mark following data overnight that showed US inflation is retreating. Rupee consolidated in a narrow range and settled for the day lower by 7 paise at 83.55 (provisional) against the US dollar on Thursday. The benchmark S&P BSE Sensex ended the session up 204.33 points, or 0.27 percent, at 76,810.90. The broader NSE Nifty index closed at 23,398.90, up 75.95 points, or 0.33 percent, from its previous close.
