The company has drawn plans for a Capex of Rs 2000 crore to be spent in 4 years
Alok Industries has come out with the financial results for the quarter and year ended March 11 and conducted concall to discuss the performance of the business. Dilip B Jiwrajka – Managing Director and Sunil Khandelwal CFO of the company addressed the call.

Highlights of the call are:

  • The vertical integrator in textile value chain – Alok Industries has reported strong performance for the quarter ended March 11 with top line growth of 50% at Rs 2202.90 crore and 68% increase in the bottom line at Rs 160.05 crore. 12% dip in the interest cost at Rs 159.11 crore has off set 380 bps dip in the operating margins to 25.3% in period under review.
  • The breakup of the revenues for the quarter in different segments is as follows: Apparel Fabric constitutes major chunk of 45% (Woven fabric 41% and Knitted fabric 3%), Polyester yarn 25% cotton yarn 17%, Home textiles 11% and Garments 2%. The company exports majorly Knitted fabric, Home Textiles and Garments. Home textile export revenues grew by 28% to Rs 246.37 crore.
  • The domestic sales improved by 51% to Rs 4159 crore and export sales by 41% to Rs 2207 crore totaling net sales to grow by 48% to Rs 6365.95 crore for FY11.
  • The company is in expansion mode in almost all the product basket it is serving currently (except for Garments). The Capacity at end of FY11 stood as follows: Yarn division: - Spinning 69040 tons (343840 spindles); Home textiles:- Processing 82.50 million Mts, Weaving 68 million mts and Terry Towels 6700 tons; Apparel Fabric:- Processing Woven 105 million Mts, Weaving 93 million Mts and Knitted fabrics 18200 tons; Garments 22 million Pieces, DTY 114000 tons, FDY 65700 tons and Polyester 2 lakh MT. Post expansion, the company capacity would increase to Yarn division: - Spinning 80000 tons (411840 spindles); Home textiles:- Processing 105 million Mts, Weaving 92 million mts and Terry Towels 13400 tons; Apparel Fabric:- Processing Woven 126 million Mts, Weaving 120 million Mts and Knitted fabrics 25000 tons; Garments 22 million Pieces, DTY 170000 tons, FDY 65700 tons and Polyester 5 lakh MT.
  • The capex of cotton yarn and polyester will be completed by July 11.
  • The company has opened 20 H&A chain of stores during the quarter taking total number to 291 (including shop in shop). The management targets to take the count to 500 at end of March 12.
  • Store Twenty One – UK retail chain of value format has reported 23% increase in the revenues at 27.95 million pounds in quarter ended March 11 and positive EBITDA of 0.01 million pounds. For FY11 growth in revenues were to the tune of 11% at 117.06 million pounds.
  • The average cotton yarn prices rose by 45% to 207 per Kg while that of PV yarn and PC yarn has improved by 35% each to Rs 233 per kg and Rs 221 per Kg respectively.
  • The company has covered cotton at 37,000 per candy and has 2 months covering.
  • The company has drawn plans for a Capex of Rs 2000 crore to be spent in 4 years.
