Jyothy Laboratories held conference call on 24 October 2018. M P Ramachandran Chairman & Managing Director & Ullas Kamath Joint Managing Director of the company addressed the call.
Highlights of the call:
Jyothy Laboratories is a multi-brand, multi-product company with operations all over the country.
The company currently boasts of brands namely Ujala, Maxo, Exo, Henko, Pril, Margo, Neem, Chek, and Mr White that are well known and well established in their respective categories.
In September 2018 quarter, net sales grew 7% to Rs 427.69 crore. OPM improved 90 basis points to 17.1% which saw OP grow 13% to Rs 73.15 crore.
PBT went up 9% to Rs 56.89 crore.
PAT grew 7% to Rs 45.34 crore.
For the six months, net sales grew 12% to Rs 830.26 crore. OPM improved 130 basis points to 15.8% which saw OP grow 22% to Rs 131.44 crore. PBT went up 32% to Rs 98.56 crore. PAT grew 24% to Rs 77.72 crore.
Six months GST comparable revenue growth was 13%.
Six months GST comparable volume growth was 10.6%.
As said at the beginning of FY 2019, the company aims to achieve sustained organic qoq growth with improved consumer mind-share.
It has delivered results as promised.
The quarter witnessed unexpected flood, landslide and devastation in 11 districts out of 14 districts of Kerola which affected sales adversely.
Almost 15% of total sales used to be from Kerala.
The situation now is bock to normalcy.
The management is hopeful of good performance in the coming quarters as the festive season arrives.
Another vital area of attention is towards serving to a larger customer base by strengthening and investing in distribution networks.
With its continued and sustained efforts it is confident to deliver committed results with every passing quarter.
Rural demand is growing.
Higher crude price and weak rupee will put pressure on raw material costs going forward.
Advertisement & Promotion ratio to sales fell to 5.3% against 5.6%.
Ujala grew 6.1% in Q2.
Henko grew by a strong 20.7% in Q2. Rs 10 SKU now contributes more than 10%.
Ujala Supreme market share was maintained at 80.5% against 80.7%.
Ujala detergent maintains leadership position as the largest mid priced detergent brand in Kerala.
Exo Bar grew 14.1% in Q2 and Pril liquid grew 15.2%.
Launched Maxo Agarbathi (100% Natural) in the quarter. It tested markets like Bihar and Maharashtra.
Rural demand is likely to continue to be strong.
Growth in H2 will be led by strong innovations across its portfolio
Dish wash has come out with fantastic new innovation in the market with the launch of Pril Tamarind. This was launched in October 2018.
Incense stick is the new opportunity and is growing phenomenally since 2014. The company launched Maxo Agarbathi (100% Natural) in the quarter. Maxo Agarbathi : 100% Natural , effective solution. This is against many poisonous incense stick brands available in the market, which are as poisonous as crackers. The company is going through proper channels to put an end to the poisonous brands.
For FY 2019 the company is comfortable with sales growth target of 12-14% and EBITDA of 16-17% despite Kerala floods.
