During the month of December 2023, Gas Distribution sector’s Marketcap decreased -41.65% to Rs 341070.28 crore, compared to 25.73% rise in total listed marketcap to Rs 36621601.69 crore.

Sector’s share of total listed marketcap moved to 0.93% in December 2023 from 2.01% in November 2022 and 1.4% in November 2021.


In terms of price appreciation in the sector, there were 8 gainers and 1 losers in the month of Dec 2023. The gainers accounted for 88.89% of sector companies, losers accounted for 11.11% of sector companies.

The top 3 gainers were Adani Total Gas (34.93% gain), GAIL (India) (28.66% gain) and Deep Energy (16.66% gain).

Deep Industries (-5.44% fall) was the only one loser.

During the month GAIL (India) Ltd, Mahanagar Gas Ltd, Petronet LNG Ltd, Indraprastha Gas Ltd, Gujarat State Petronet Ltd, Deep Energy Resources Ltd, Adani Total Gas Ltd, Gujarat Gas Ltd and Deep Industries Ltd filed their shareholding patterns.

FIIs increased their shareholding in Deep Industries Ltd from 1.19% to 2.18% and Indraprastha Gas Ltd from 21.27% to 21.94%. FIIs reduced their shareholding in Deep Energy Resources Ltd from 1.69% to 1.68%, Adani Total Gas Ltd from 14.08% to 13.94%, Gujarat State Petronet Ltd from 16.55% to 16.01%, Gujarat Gas Ltd from 4.47% to 3.80%, Petronet LNG Ltd from 34.27% to 33.31%, GAIL (India) Ltd from 15.97% to 14.65% and Mahanagar Gas Ltd from 32.38% to 30.51%.

DIIs increased their shareholding in Petronet LNG Ltd from 3.60% to 4.84%, GAIL (India) Ltd from 17.92% to 18.97% and Mahanagar Gas Ltd from 14.79% to 15.50%. DIIs reduced their shareholding in Gujarat Gas Ltd from 13.11% to 13.01% and Indraprastha Gas Ltd from 19.96% to 19.83%.
