Meanwhile, the BSE Sensex was down 12.07 points, or 0.06%, to 18,781.37.
On BSE, 2.88 lakh shares were traded in the counter as against an average daily volume of 54,290 shares in the past one quarter.
The stock hit a high of Rs 44.05 and a low of Rs 41.30 so far during the day. The stock had hit a 52-week high of Rs 48.30 on 4 October 2012. The stock had hit a 52-week low of Rs 27.05 on 15 December 2011.
The stock had outperformed the market over the past one month till 22 October 2012, rising 7.14% compared with the Sensex's 0.22% rise. The scrip had also outperformed the market in past one quarter, gaining 23.13% as against Sensex's 9.53% rise.
The small-cap company has an equity capital of Rs 68.91 crore. Face value per share is Rs 2.
Rain Commodities on Sunday, 21 October 2012, announced that Rain CII Carbon LLC, a wholly owned step-down subsidiary of the company, has agreed to acquire Rutgers N.V., a Belgium headquartered coal tar pitch (CPT) manufacturer, from funds advised by Triton. Rain CII has executed share purchase agreement with Triton to acquire 100% of stake in Rutgers for gross enterprise value of 702 million euro. The transaction is expected to close in the first quarter of 2013, subject to necessary approvals and customary closing conditions, Rain Commodities said.
The acquisition of Rutgers is complimentary to the company's core business of calcined petroleum coke (CPC), Rain Commodities said in a statement on Sunday, 21 October 2012. Expanding into tar distillation business constitutes both product and geographical diversification to Rain Group and provides vertical depth within its core business, it said.
Rain CII is planning to fund the transaction through a combination of internal cash accruals and issue proceeds of euro 533 million of long term bonds.
On a consolidated basis, Rain Commodities' net profit rose 6.5% to Rs 175.11 crore on 1% increase in net sales to Rs 1390.56 crore in Q2 June 2012 over Q2 June 2011.
Rain Commodities and its wholly owned subsidiaries, Rain CII Carbon (India) and Rain CII Carbon LLC, USA are engaged in the production of cement, calcined petroleum coke (CPC) and power.
