Himatsingka Seide rustles on made-in-US label shopping buzz
Himatsingka Seide had moved up 1.92% to Rs 132.80 at 13:09 IST on reports that the textile firm is close to buying a US-based bed-linen brand.

The report hit the market during trading hours today, 18 July 2007.

The BSE Sensex,meanwhile, was down 52.22 points, or 0.34%, to 15,237.60.

The scrip had touched a high of Rs 134 and a low of Rs 129 so far during the day. The stock had hit a 52-week high of Rs 150 on 29 January 2007 and a 52-week low of Rs 86 on 24 July 2006.

On BSE, 15,143 shares were traded in the scrip. The stock had an average daily volume of 23,005 shares on BSE in the past one quarter.

The company’s equity capital is Rs 48.72 crore, with 9.74 crore outstanding shares of a face value of Rs 5 each.

At the current price of Rs 132.80, the scrip trades at a PE multiple of 23.71, based on year ended March 2007 EPS of Rs 5.60.

The scrip had gained 15.67% in the one month to 17 July 2007 versus the Sensex's 8.59% rise. It added 12.47% in the past three months against the Sensex's 11.83% return.

The US bed-linen brand that the company is targeting to acquire has annual sales of about $50-60 million.

On 3 July 2007, the company had acquired an 80% stake in US-based Divatex Home Fashions Inc for $75 million.

In March 2007, Himatsingka Seide bought a 59.74% stake in Giuseppe Bellora SpA, Italy, for euro 20 million (including euro 7 milion of long-term debt). The company later infused an incremental euro 3.75 million as fresh equity to increase its stake in the Italian firm to 70%.

Himatsingka Seide's net profit declined 24.77% to Rs 8.90 crore Q4 March 2007 as against Rs 11.83 crore in Q4 March 2006. Sales rose 14.1% to Rs 43.17 crore in Q4 March 2007 as against Rs 37.82 crore in Q4 March 2006.

Net profit moved up 13.04% to Rs 54.61 crore in the year ended March 2007 (FY 2007) as against Rs 48.31 crore in FY 2006. Sales advanced 15.83% to Rs 174.16 crore FY 2007 as against Rs 150.36 crore in FY 2006.

Himatsingka Seide manufactures silk and silk-blended furnishing, apparel fabric and blended yarn. The silk yarns and fabrics are offered across Germany, France, England, Italy, South America, Australia and USA.
