Hindustan Zinc reported quarterly mined metal production at 301kt since UG transition, up 2% year on year (YoY) and 19% quarter on quarter (QoQ). The increase was mainly driven by higher ore production and improved mined metal grades.
The zinc miner said that it has recorded highest-ever quarterly refined metal production at 269,000 tonnes, up 3% YoY and 5% QoQ, on account of better plant and mined metal availability.
Integrated zinc production was at 215,000 tonnes in Q4 FY23, up 2% as compared to Q4 FY22 and up 2% compared to Q3 FY23. Refined lead production was at 54,000 tonnes up 10% YoY and 17% QoQ, resulting from better plant availability and consistent mined metal flow from mines.
Saleable silver production was 5.9 million ounces (moz), up 13% YoY in line with lead metal production and 13% QoQ, in line with lead metal production and higher WIP depletion in base period.
Wind power generation for 4Q FY23 was 71 million units, up 8% YoY and up 41% QoQ, depending upon wind velocity & seasonality impact.
On full year basis, the mining company has reported mined metal production at 10,62,000 tonnes in FY23, recording a growth of 4% YoY. The rise in the mined metal production was led by higher ore production, improved mined metal grades and operational efficiencies.
Refined metal production stood at 10,32,000 tonnes, up 7% YoY, due to better plant availability and consistent mined metal flow from mines.
The company has recorded highest-ever integrated zinc production at 821,000 tonnes, up 6% YoY and refined lead production was at 211,000 tonnes, up 10% YoY.
Saleable silver production came at 22.9 moz in FY23, recording a growth of 10% YoY.
Hindustan Zinc, a Vedanta Group company, is an integrated producer of zinc, lead and silver. As of December 2022, Vedanta held 64.92% stake in the company.
The mining company's consolidated net profit slipped 20.2% to Rs 2,156 crore from Rs 2,701 crore recorded in Q3 FY22. Revenue from operations during the quarter was Rs 7,866 crore, down 1.6% year on year (YoY).
