The organization iCONGO integrates many NGOs working in different spheres and the Karamveer Puraskar is annually given to individuals who have been leaders of change and excelled in doing work that contributes to society and promotes important social causes. Nandy's award was for his contribution to socially responsible media and outstanding film making. The short listing of the entries is carried out by an expert panel from iCONGO comprising representatives of prominent NGOs based on a process set and created by Mercer and Grant Thorton.
