Supreme Industries
Plastic piping segment PBIT margin was down 1340 bps to 1.9%
Supreme Industries consolidated net sales increased 8.20% to Rs 2086.6 crore in Q2FY23 compared to Q2FY22.  Sales of Plastics Piping Products segment has gone up 2.16% to Rs 1,294.71 crore (accounting for 62.05% of total sales).  Sales of Industrial Products segment has gone up 32.38% to Rs 334.86 crore (accounting for 16.05% of total sales).  Sales of Packing Products segment rose 18.23% to Rs 327.82 crore (accounting for 15.71% of total sales).  Sales of Consumer Products segment has gone up 0.67% to Rs 111.91 crore (accounting for 5.36% of total sales).  Sales of Others segment has gone down 12.89% to Rs 17.30 crore (accounting for 0.83% of total sales). 

Operating profit margin has declined from 16.12% to 7.05%, leading to 52.66% decline in operating profit to Rs 147.13 crore.  Raw material cost as a % of total sales (net of stock adjustments) increased from 67.50% to 75.38%.   Purchase of finished goods cost rose from 1.57% to 1.76%.   Employee cost decreased from 4.41% to 4.16%.   Other expenses rose from 10.71% to 11.75%.   Power and Oil fuel cost rose from 2.88% to 3.11%.  

Other income rose 34.96% to Rs 5.52 crore.  PBIDT fell 51.52% to Rs 152.65 crore.  Provision for interest rose 76.47% to Rs 1.2 crore. 

PBDT fell 51.80% to Rs 151.45 crore.  Provision for depreciation rose 13.51% to Rs 64.85 crore. 

Profit before interest, tax and other unallocable items (PBIT) has slumped 65.85% to Rs 88.23 crore.  PBIT of Plastics Piping Products segment fell 87.23% to Rs 24.77 crore (accounting for 28.07% of total PBIT).  PBIT of Industrial Products segment rose 55.28% to Rs 29.83 crore (accounting for 33.81% of total PBIT).  PBIT of Packing Products segment fell 16.37% to Rs 21.31 crore (accounting for 24.15% of total PBIT).  PBIT of Consumer Products segment fell 11.31% to Rs 15.52 crore (accounting for 17.59% of total PBIT).  PBIT of Others reported loss of Rs 3.20 crore compared to profit of Rs 2.15 crore.  

PBIT margin of Plastics Piping Products segment fell from 15.31% to 1.91%.  PBIT margin of Industrial Products segment rose from 7.59% to 8.91%.  PBIT margin of Packing Products segment fell from 9.19% to 6.50%.  PBIT margin of Consumer Products segment fell from 15.74% to 13.87%.  PBIT margin of Others segment fell from 10.83% to 18.50%.  Overall PBIT margin fell from 13.40% to 4.23%.   

Profit before tax down 66.31% to Rs 86.60 crore.  Share of profit/loss was 52.54% lower at Rs 18.56 crore.  Provision for tax was expense of Rs 23.14 crore, compared to Rs 67.47 crore.  Effective tax rate was 22.00% compared to 22.78%.

Minority interest was nil in both the periods.  Net profit attributable to owners of the company decreased 64.14% to Rs 82.02 crore. 

Equity capital stood at Rs 25.41 crore as of 30 September 2022 to Rs 25.41 crore as of 30 September 2021.  Per share face Value remained same at Rs 2.00. 

Promoters’ stake was 48.85% as of 30 September 2022 ,compared to 48.85% as of 30 September 2021 . 

For year-to-date (YTD) results analysis

Net sales of Supreme Industries have increased 31.25% to Rs 4292.58 crore.  Sales of Plastics Piping Products segment has gone up 31.44% to Rs 2,758.05 crore (accounting for 64.25% of total sales).  Sales of Industrial Products segment has gone up 41.00% to Rs 637.12 crore (accounting for 14.84% of total sales).  Sales of Packing Products segment rose 25.46% to Rs 654.15 crore (accounting for 15.24% of total sales).  Sales of Consumer Products segment has gone up 30.10% to Rs 207.68 crore (accounting for 4.84% of total sales).  Sales of Others segment has gone down 9.65% to Rs 35.58 crore (accounting for 0.83% of total sales). 

Operating profit margin has declined from 16.29% to 9.69%, leading to 21.91% decline in operating profit to Rs 416.04 crore.  Raw material cost as a % of total sales (net of stock adjustments) increased from 67.02% to 73.50%.   Purchase of finished goods cost fell from 1.73% to 1.63%.   Employee cost decreased from 4.81% to 4.17%.   Other expenses fell from 11.08% to 11.01%.   Power and Oil fuel cost fell from 2.91% to 2.85%.  

Other income rose 19.74% to Rs 10.07 crore.  PBIDT fell 21.27% to Rs 426.11 crore.  Provision for interest rose 0.71% to Rs 2.83 crore. 

PBDT fell 21.38% to Rs 423.28 crore.  Provision for depreciation rose 11.75% to Rs 126.53 crore.  

Profit before interest, tax and other unallocable items (PBIT) has slumped 29.79% to Rs 301.43 crore.  PBIT of Plastics Piping Products segment fell 46.61% to Rs 179.18 crore (accounting for 59.44% of total PBIT).  PBIT of Industrial Products segment rose 76.31% to Rs 55.38 crore (accounting for 18.37% of total PBIT).  PBIT of Packing Products segment rose 3.43% to Rs 44.08 crore (accounting for 14.62% of total PBIT).  PBIT of Consumer Products segment rose 46.41% to Rs 26.53 crore (accounting for 8.80% of total PBIT).  PBIT of Others reported loss of Rs 3.74 crore compared to profit of Rs 1.59 crore. 

PBIT margin of Plastics Piping Products segment fell from 15.99% to 6.50%.  PBIT margin of Industrial Products segment rose from 6.95% to 8.69%.  PBIT margin of Packing Products segment fell from 8.17% to 6.74%.  PBIT margin of Consumer Products segment rose from 11.35% to 12.77%.  PBIT margin of Others segment fell from 4.04% to 10.51%.  Overall PBIT margin fell from 13.13% to 7.02%.

Profit before tax down 30.20% to Rs 296.75 crore.  Share of profit/loss was 9% lower at Rs 76.56 crore.  Provision for tax was expense of Rs 77.44 crore, compared to Rs 110.43 crore.  Effective tax rate was 20.74% compared to 21.68%.

Minority interest was nil in both the periods.  Net profit attributable to owners of the company decreased 25.82% to Rs 295.87 crore. 

Equity capital stood at Rs 25.41 crore as of 30 September 2022 to Rs 25.41 crore as of 30 September 2021.  Per share face Value remained same at Rs 2.00. 

Promoters’ stake was 48.85% as of 30 September 2022 ,compared to 48.85% as of 30 September 2021.
