EPL consolidated net sales rose 5% to Rs 770.3 crore in Q2FY21 compared to Q2FY20. The company operating margins increased 70 bps to 21.6% leading to 9% increase in operating profits to Rs 166.2 crore.

Other income increased 68% to Rs 3.2 crore compared to Rs 1.9 crore. Interest cost was down 38% to Rs 9.7 crore. Depreciation remained flat at Rs 57.8 crore. PBT before EO was up 25% to Rs 101.9 crore. The company had nil EO items during the quarter compared to net EO expense of Rs 20.3 crore during Q2FY20 being impairment provision made towards loan given (including interest) on the basis of impairment assessment carried out by the management. PBT after EO was up 67% to Rs 101.9 crore.

Tax expense during the quarter was up 215% to 33.4 crore. PAT reported was up 36% to Rs 68.5 crore. Further considering share of profit or loss of JV and associates and minority interest net profit rose 13% to Rs 67 crore.

For the quarter, sales from the Amesa geography stood at Rs 259 crore, up by 6% YoY and accounted for 33% of the total sales. PBIT from the same stood at Rs 38.4 crore up by 49% YoY and accounted for 35% of total PBIT with PBIT margins at 14.8%

For the quarter, sales from the EAP geography stood at Rs 190.8 crore, up by 9% YoY and accounted for 24% of total sales and PBIT from the same stood at Rs 39.5 crore up by 15% YoY with PBIT margin at 20.7%.

For the quarter, sales from the America geography stood at Rs 152.8 crore down 7% and PBIT from the same stood at Rs 15.5 crore down by 37% YoY. PBIT margin stood at 10.1%

For the quarter, sales from the EU geography stood at Rs 193.9 crore up by 11% YoY and PBIT stood at Rs 15.8 crore up by 35% with PBIT margin at 8.1%.

Performance for the half year ended Sep20

For half year ended Sep20, consolidated net sales rose 11% to Rs 1511.8 crore. OPM was higher by 150 bps to 20.7% thus resulting in a 20% increase in OP to Rs 312.8 crore. Other income was down 2% to Rs 8.3 crore. Interest cost stood at Rs 25.9 crore down by 12% and depreciation stood at Rs 115.7 crore up by 1% thus resulting in a PBT before EO of Rs 179.5 crore up by 43%.

There was net EO expense of Rs 16.1 crore includes gain of Rs.10.9 crore on sale of land and building of one of the factories and loss of Rs. 20.3 crore epresents write off of credit impaired loan as compared to EO expense of Rs 9.4 crore (Rs.10.91 crore gain on sale of Land and Building of one of its factory and Rs. 20.30 crore being impairment provision made towards loan given (including interest) on the basis of impairment assessment carried out by the management). Thus PBT after EO stood at Rs 163.4 crore up by 40%. After tax expense of Rs 51.8 crore up by 95%, PAT stood at Rs 111.6 crore up by 24%. Further considering share of profit or loss of JV and associates and minority interest net profit rose 13% to Rs 111.4 crore.
