The Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) has given its official approval for the appointment of Amit Jhingran as the managing director & CEO of SBI Life Insurance Company.
The exact date when Amit Jhingran will assume office as the managing director & CEO is yet to be disclosed. However, SBI Life Insurance Company has assured that the announcement will be made to the stock exchanges and shared with the public at the appropriate time.
Amit Jhingran has had a successful career with State Bank of India (SBI) spanning over 30 years. He started as a probationary officer in August 1991 and has held various positions in international banking, retail banking, and branch management. Currently, he serves as the chief general manager of the Hyderabad Circle. Previously, he was the CEO of SBI, Chicago. Throughout his career, he has also held the role of regional manager and has successfully managed multiple branches under his leadership.

SBI Life reported 45% jump in net profit to Rs 381.04 crore in Q1 FY24 from Rs 262.85 crore posted in Q1 FY23. Total income surged to Rs 27,904 crore in Q1 FY24 as compared with Rs 4,817.29 crore in Q1 FY23. The life insurer's net premium income increased by 18.74% year on year to Rs 13,104.49 crore in Q1 FY24.
Shares of SBI Life rose 3.62% to Rs 1349.70 on 8 August 2023.
