Coal India Ltd gained for a fifth straight session today. The stock is quoting at Rs 223, up 1.29% on the day as on 12:44 IST on the NSE. The benchmark NIFTY is up around 0.73% on the day, quoting at 17525.7. The Sensex is at 59563.13, up 0.77%. Coal India Ltd has dropped around 0.84% in last one month.

Meanwhile, Nifty Auto index of which Coal India Ltd is a constituent, has dropped around 0.06% in last one month and is currently quoting at 22805.9, down 0.41% on the day. The volume in the stock stood at 36.77 lakh shares today, compared to the daily average of 62.8 lakh shares in last one month.

The benchmark April futures contract for the stock is quoting at Rs 223, up 0.97% on the day. Coal India Ltd is up 15.04% in last one year as compared to a 1.58% drop in NIFTY and a 17.32% drop in the Nifty Auto index.

The PE of the stock is 8.77 based on TTM earnings ending December 22.
