For the quarter ended December 2016, Esab India registered 1% sales growth to Rs 123.48 crore. OPM fell 100 basis points to 5.9% which took OP down 13% to Rs 7.30 crore.

Other income grew 200% to Rs 4.80 crore and depreciation went up 4% to Rs 2.46 crore.

Thus PBT grew 27% to Rs 9.64 crore.

EO loss was Rs 48 lakh against Rs 31 lakh. Thus PBT after EO grew 25% to Rs 9.16 crore.

Tax grew 9% to Rs 2.56 crore after which PAT grew 33% to Rs 6.60 crore.

Nine months results

For the nine months ended December 2016, Esab India registered 4% sales growth to Rs 383.00 crore. OPM fell 10 basis points to 8.8% which limited OP growth to 3% to Rs 33.82 crore.

Other income grew 94% to Rs 9.80 crore and depreciation stagnated at Rs 7.19 crore.

Thus PBT grew 19% to Rs 36.43 crore.

EO loss was Rs 48 lakh against Rs 3.15 crore. Thus PBT after EO grew 31% to Rs 35.95 crore.

Tax grew 25% to Rs 10.75 crore after which PAT grew 33% to Rs 25.20 crore.

Segment results

For the quarter, sales from the Consumables segment fell 1% to Rs 90.79 crore and accounted for 74% of sales. PBIT from the same fell 38% to Rs 6.90 crore and accounted for 79% of total.

For the quarter, sales from the Equipment division grew 4% to Rs 31.49 crore and accounted for 26% of sales. PBIT from the same stood at a profit of Rs 1.82 crore against a loss of Rs 31 lakh and accounted for 21% of total.

For the nine months, sales from the Consumables segment grew 2% to Rs 279.02 crore and accounted for 73% of sales. PBIT from the same grew 2% to Rs 31.99 crore and accounted for 87% of total.

For the nine months, sales from the Equipment division grew 7% to Rs 101.15 crore and accounted for 27% of sales. PBIT from the same fell 2% to Rs 4.91 crore and accounted for 13% of total.

For the quarter PBIT margin of Consumables segment fell from 12.1% to 7.6% but that of the Equipment division improved to 5.8% against a negative 1.0%.

For the nine months PBIT margin of Consumables segment stayed at 11.5% while that of the Equipment division fell from 5.3% to 4.9%.

Valuation

The share price trades at Rs 590.
