Corporation Of India for the quarter ended Sep 2023 has increased 11.15% to Rs
2,190.40 crore. Operating profit margin
has declined from 25.36% to 24.53%, leading to 7.48% rise in operating profit
to Rs 537.25 crore. Employee cost increased from 4.62% to 5.58%.
Other expenses fell from 70.02% to 69.89%. Freight
charges rose from 54.19% to 54.92%. Other direct service cost fell
from 13.30% to 12.38%. Other income up 101.75% to Rs 102.45
crore. PBIDT rose 16.18% to Rs 639.7 crore. Provision for
interest up 2.37% to Rs 14.67 crore. PBDT rose 16.54% to Rs 625.03
crore. Provision for depreciation rose 10.82% to Rs 148.6
crore. Profit before tax grew 18.45% to Rs 476.43
crore. Provision for tax was expense of Rs 118.73 crore, compared to
Rs 99.41 crore. Effective tax rate was 24.92% compared to 24.72%. Profit
after tax rose 18.13% to Rs 357.70 crore.
- Sales of Exim segment
has gone up 9.49% to Rs 1,443.75 crore (accounting for 65.91% of total
sales). Sales of Domestic segment has gone up 14.50% to Rs 746.65
crore (accounting for 34.09% of total sales).
- Profit before interest,
tax and other unallocable items (PBIT) has jumped 6.61% to Rs 420.86
crore. PBIT of Exim segment rose 4.26% to Rs 346.25 crore
(accounting for 82.27% of total PBIT). PBIT of Domestic segment rose
19.03% to Rs 74.61 crore (accounting for 17.73% of total PBIT).
- PBIT margin of Exim
segment fell from 25.19% to 23.98%. PBIT margin of Domestic segment
rose from 9.61% to 9.99%. Overall PBIT margin fell from 20.03% to
19.21%.
Consolidated net sales
(including other operating income) of Container Corporation Of India has
increased 10.50% to Rs 2194.87 crore. Operating profit margin has
declined from 25.45% to 24.90%, leading to 8.09% rise in operating profit to Rs
546.46 crore. Other income rose 135.22% to Rs 104.91
crore. PBIDT rose 18.40% to Rs 651.37 crore. Provision
for interest rose 3.58% to Rs 16.51 crore. PBDT rose
18.84% to Rs 634.86 crore. Provision for depreciation rose 10.50% to
Rs 153.1 crore. Profit before tax grew 21.76% to Rs 481.76
crore. Share of profit/loss was 28.21% lower at Rs 5.7
crore. Provision for tax was expense of Rs 118.97 crore, compared to
Rs 99.81 crore. Effective tax rate was 24.41% compared to 24.73%. Minority
interest increased 242.42% to Rs 1.13 crore. Net profit attributable
to owners of the company increased 21.05% to Rs 367.36 crore.
For year-to-date (YTD) results analysis
Standalone net sales (including other operating income) of Container
Corporation Of India for half year ended Sep 2023 has increased 4.07% to Rs
4,109.74 crore. Operating profit margin
has declined from 24.62% to 22.60%, leading to 4.46% decline in operating
profit to Rs 928.85 crore. Employee cost increased from 4.92% to
5.55%. Other expenses rose from 70.46% to 71.85%.
Freight charges rose from 54.58% to 55.27%. Other
direct service cost rose from 13.44% to 14.02%. Other income up 61.87%
to Rs 183.92 crore. PBIDT rose 2.48% to Rs 1112.77
crore. Provision for interest up 1.98% to Rs 28.8 crore.
PBDT rose 2.49% to Rs 1083.97 crore. Provision for depreciation rose
7.92% to Rs 286.35 crore Profit before tax grew 0.67% to Rs 797.62
crore. Provision for tax was expense of Rs 195.8 crore, compared to
Rs 198.18 crore. Effective tax rate was 24.55% compared to 25.01%. Profit
after tax rose 1.30% to Rs 601.82 crore.
- Sales of Exim segment
has gone up 2.14% to Rs 2,675.23 crore (accounting for 65.09% of total
sales). Sales of Domestic segment has gone up 7.88% to Rs 1,434.51
crore (accounting for 34.91% of total sales).
- Profit before interest,
tax and other unallocable items (PBIT) has slumped 7.33% to Rs 714.02
crore. PBIT of Exim segment fell 7.15% to Rs 602.80 crore
(accounting for 84.42% of total PBIT). PBIT of Domestic segment fell
8.27% to Rs 111.22 crore (accounting for 15.58% of total PBIT).
- PBIT margin of Exim
segment fell from 24.79% to 22.53%. PBIT margin of Domestic segment
fell from 9.12% to 7.75%. Overall PBIT margin fell from 19.51% to
17.37%.
Consolidated net sales
(including other operating income) of Container Corporation Of India has increased
3.45% to Rs 4117.71 crore. Operating profit margin has declined from
24.73% to 22.88%, leading to 4.27% decline in operating profit to Rs 942.28
crore. Other income rose 64.49% to Rs 186.05 crore. PBIDT
rose 2.82% to Rs 1128.33 crore. Provision for interest rose 3.15% to
Rs 32.42 crore. PBDT rose 2.81% to Rs 1095.91
crore. Provision for depreciation rose 7.02% to Rs 295.2
crore. Profit before tax grew 1.34% to Rs 800.71
crore. Share of profit/loss was 18.99% lower at Rs 8.7
crore. Provision for tax was expense of Rs 195.73 crore, compared to
Rs 200.26 crore. Effective tax rate was 24.18% compared to 25.00%. Minority
interest increased 850% to Rs 0.76 crore. Net profit attributable to
owners of the company increased 2.06% to Rs 612.92 crore.

activities decreased to Rs 663.11 crore for YTD ended September 2023 from Rs
685.20 crore for YTD ended September 2022. Cash flow used in
acquiring fixed assets during the YTD ended September 2023 stood at Rs 360.89
crore, compared to Rs 142.52 crore during the YTD ended September
2022.
Loan funds rose to Rs
743.75 crore as of 30 September 2023 from Rs 672.61 crore as of 30 September
2022. Inventories rose to Rs 41.74 crore as of 30 September 2023
from Rs 28.15 crore as of 30 September 2022. Sundry debtors were higher
at Rs 303.65 crore as of 30 September 2023 compared to Rs 173.92 crore as of 30
September 2022. Cash and bank balance rose to Rs 3,332.33 crore as
of 30 September 2023 from Rs 3,328.18 crore as of 30 September
2022. Investments rose to Rs 1,442.52 crore as of 30 September 2023
from Rs 1,441.12 crore as of 30 September 2022 . . Fixed
assets increased to Rs 6,201.69 crore as of 30 September 2023 from Rs 6,008.17 crore
as of 30 September 2022. Intangible assets increased from Rs 16.54
crore to Rs 16.69 crore.
