Net up 271% largely on lower tax

Frontier Springs registered 271% growth in its net profit (total comprehensive income) for the quarter ended June 2018 to Rs 2.23 crore even while its sales up by 7% to Rs 18.44 crore. Sharp jump at net profit despite modest growth in sales, was largely as good operating performance was backed by higher other income, lower interest, lower depreciation and foremost sharp fall in taxation.

Sales net of excise/GST was up by 7% to Rs 18.44 crore but the value of production was up by 12% to Rs 18.31 crore. Sales lower higher than value of production for the quarter as well as corresponding previous period reflects liquidation of prior period inventory.
Operating profit margin expanded by 280 bps to 16.8% spurred by lower staff cost as well as other expenses. Material cost as % to sales net of stocks and excise was higher by 80 bps to 42.9%. The staff cost was down by 70 bps to 3.0%. Similarly the other expense was down by 220 bps to 37.2%.
Other income was up by 18% to Rs 0.13 crore, the interest cost was down by 35% to Rs 0.23 crore and depreciation was lower by 15% to Rs 0.50 crore. Thus gained the growth at PBT was 58% to Rs 2.50 crore.
EO income for the quarter and corresponding previous period was nil. The taxation was down by 68% to Rs 0.32 crore and the tax rate was lower at 12.6% compared to 61.9% in corresponding previous period. Thus on deflated base the PAT was up by whopping 262% to Rs 2.18 crore.
Other comprehensive income was Rs 0.05 crore compared to nil in the corresponding previous period. Thus the total comprehensive income was up by 271% to Rs 2.23 crore.
