Southern India in the remaining two months of FY ’08 could see a capacity addition of about 1000 MW with the 60 MW Valathur CCPP Extension Project of TNEB, the 500 MW Bellary TPP (Unit I) of KPCL and the third and fourth unit of Kaiga Nuclear Power Project going on stream by Mar ‘08. The original expected date of commissioning of Valathur CCPP is Nov ’07. That of Bellary was May ’07 and Kaiga was April ‘07/ Feb ’08.
However the 39 MW each second and third units of Priyadarsini Jurala Hydro Power Project executed by APGENCO is getting delayed. While the second unit which was targeted to be completed by Oct ’07 is now expected to be completed by Mar ’08 and the third unit, which is targeted to be completed on Jan ’08 and its completion will now happen in 2008-09 that being slip over. The 464 MW Gautami CCPP (2 X 145 MW GT & 174 MW ST) project of GVK Power in AP w though completed the commissioning of it is delayed due to gas availability. Similarly the 405 MW Konaseema CCPP too was ready but its commissioning was delayed due to absence of gas availability. While the Gautami CCPP was expected to be commissioned by Aug ’08 that of Konaseema is expected to be commissioned by Jul ’08 as the gas will be made available by that time.
The 60 MW Valathur CCPP Extension project of TNEB that is expected to be commissioned on Nov ’07 is now expected to be completed by Mar ’08. The 500 MW Bellary TPP (Unit I) and the third and fourth unit of Kaiga Nuclear power project of 220 MW each is expected to be completed by Mar ’08.
