Defers expansion plans at Uttarkhand
India Nippon Electrical held its 25 Annual General Meeting on 26 August 2010 in Chennai. T K Balaji – Chairman addressed the meet.

Highlights of the meet are:

  • The company has reported 32% rise in the topline at Rs 127.92 crore in FY09 to Rs 169.08 crore in FY10. Growth in 3 wheelers and moped segment of the company has reported at 43% and 27% respectively. Electronic Control unit meant for 4 wheelers application contributed about 5% of the sales for the year. During the year, the company has also commenced direct sales in the after market.
  • The Indian economy has recovered from recession faster than the developed economies and the year ended with a GDP growth of over 7%. The two and three wheeler industry recorded growth of over 25% with mopeds, scooters and motorcycles growing at 31%, 29% and 24% respectively.
  • The company has witnessed pressure from the spike in the raw material prices in the second half of FY10. Copper prices rose by almost 50% from the beginning of the year to March 2010 by 50% and Aluminum by 40% respectively.
  • With the power situation in the country not showing any signs of improvement, the company expects Genset industry to report impressive growth, and drive growth in the sales of ignition systems division of the company.
  • The year 2010-11 has started on strong note for the 2 wheeler industries with waiting periods for delivery of all popular models reaching 4-6 weeks. The products of the company have been approved for use on new models of scooters and motorcycles. Approval is also expected to be received shortly for yet another popular model of motorcycle.
  • The company has also commenced supplies to the new customers in US which were expected to drive growth in the sales.
  • For the quarter ended June 2010, the company has posted 10% rise in the Net Profit at Rs 6.42 crore on the back of modest 37% rise in the Net sales at Rs 52.93 crore.
  • The company has deferred commencement of manufacturing unit at Uttarkhand due to the customer plans. It has also stalled its plans for another new project at Indonesia through PT automotive Systems Indonesia, as its two wheeler customer has witnessed slowdown in sales; there by not justifying the company's new operations at Indonesia.
  • Synergy Shakti Renewable Energy – in which the company has invested Rs 6 crore being 40% of its share capital, has commenced commercial production during the year.
  • The company has declared total dividend of Rs 7.50 per share with face value of Rs 10 each in FY10.
