During the month of May 2024, Refineries sector’s Marketcap increased 28.66% to Rs 2420559.13 crore, compared to 54.28% rise in total listed marketcap to Rs 41320481.71 crore.

Sector’s share of total listed marketcap moved to 5.86% in May 2024 from 7.02% in April 2023 and 8.41% in April 2022.


In terms of price appreciation in the sector, there were 2 gainers and 6 losers in the month of May 2024. The gainers accounted for 25.00% of sector companies, losers accounted for 75.00% of sector companies.

The top 2 gainers were H P C L (7.85% gain) and B P C L (3.04% gain).

The 3 losers at the bottom were M R P L (-17.30% fall), Gandhar Oil Ref. (-14.84% fall) and C P C L (-10.34% fall).

DIIs reduced their shareholding in Mangalore Refinery And Petrochemicals Ltd from 1.57% to 1.48%, Chennai Petroleum Corporation Ltd from 1.11% to 0.62%, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd from 20.91% to 19.92% and Gandhar Oil Refinery (India) Ltd from 5.43% to 3.01%.

Promoters reduced their shareholding in Resgen Ltd from 67.22% to 67.19%.
