The aircraft will be procured under the Buy (Indian) Category. The aircraft will be fitted with a number of advanced equipment viz., glass cockpit, maritime patrol radar, electro optic infra-red device, mission management system etc.
The addition will further bolster the aerial surveillance capability of maritime areas of responsibilities of the ICG, said HAL.
The aerospace & defense company added that the dornier aircraft are being indigenously manufactured at HAL (transport aircraft division), Kanpur and will significantly contribute in achieving Aatmanirbharta in defence, in consonance with the 'Make in India' initiative of the Government.
HAL is engaged in carrying out design, development, manufacture, repair and overhaul of aircraft, helicopter, engines and related systems like avionics, instruments and accessories primarily serving Indian defence programme. As of 31 March 2023, the Government of India held 75.15% stake in the company.
HAL's consolidated net profit fell 9% to Rs 2,831.18 crore on 8% increase in revenue from operations to Rs 12,494.67 crore in Q4 FY23 over Q4 FY22.
Shares of HAL rose 0.26% to currently trade at Rs 3,768.65 on the BSE.
