A thin volume of 4,848 shares was traded on the BSE.
The counter has advanced smartly from a low of Rs 30.80 on 21 July to Rs 40.45 on 7 September 2006. Earlier, the stock dropped from a high of Rs 68.35 on 12 May to Rs 30.80 on 21 July due to an overall weakness in the market.
Pritish Nandy Communications (PNC) will release ‘Pyaar Ke Side Effects’ on 15 September 2006, worldwide. Pyaar Ke Side Effects, directed by Saket Chaudhary, is a romantic comedy starring Mallika Sherawat, Rahul Bose, Perizaad Zorabian, Kiran Kher and Satish Shah. Eros Multimedia has acquired the overseas distribution rights. Star TV, which had acquired the company’s last 13 films, has also acquired the world satellite rights of Pyaar Ke Side Effects. The home theatre rights for India are with T-Series.
In February, the company had decided to issue further securities in one or more tranches up to an aggregate sum not exceeding Rs 250 crore.
Last year, PNC forayed into the lifestyle market with the launch of a cafe-cum-bistro, Sin, at Moksh, the wellness club promoted by the company in Mumbai, as part of the 10th anniversary celebrations of the company. It had also set up wellness clubs in New Delhi and London, and had also entered merchandising under the 'Moksh' brand.
Incorporated in September 1993 by author, journalist and TV host, Pritish Nandy, PNC was converted into a public limited company in March 2000. The company produces, promotes, and markets TV shows and feature films.
PNC, initially, focussed on the production of news and current affairs programmes on Doordarshan, and gradually expanded its offerings to include all the major satellite channels. It now produces comedy serials, chat shows, interviews, corporate and business shows, environmental and animal rights shows, career shows, lifestyle shows, live election debates, exit polls, award shows as well as typical soap operas that cut across channels, genres and languages.
The company has also diversified into brand building and event management, having direct links with its core business of TV content. With specialist skills in developing media and entertainment content, PNC has also forayed into the Internet business.
PNC registered a net loss of Rs 1.08 crore for Q1 June 2006 compared to a net loss of Rs 0.24 crore Q1 June 2005. Net sales declined 37.3% to Rs 3.96 crore from Rs 6.32 crore.
