The Nifty August 2023 futures closed at 19,667.95, a premium of 70.65 points compared with the Nifty's closing 19,597.30 in the cash market.

In the cash market, the Nifty 50 gained 80.30 points or 0.41% to settle at 19,597.30.

The NSE's India VIX, a gauge of market's expectation of volatility over the near term, surged 5.01% to 11.10.

State Bank of India, ICICI Bank and Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) were the top traded individual stock futures contracts in F&O segment of NSE.

The August 2023 F&O contracts will expire on 31 August 2023.
