Hind Rectifiers, the manufacturers of rectifiers, transformers and semiconductors has registered a net loss of Rs 1.79 crore for the quarter ended June 2017 that is higher than Rs 1.09 crore of loss registered in the corresponding previous period. Loss at bottom-line comes largely as the sales for the quarter was down by 32% to Rs 19.49 crore and operating profit margin turn negative 1.7% for the quarter compared to positive 1.4% in the corresponding previous period. Thus with an operating loss of Rs 0.33 crore for the quarter (compared to a profit of Rs 0.39 crore in corresponding previous period) the company could not cover the higher interest and depreciation cost resulting in higher net loss.
  • Sale for the quarter was down by 32% to Rs 19.49 crore. However the value of production was lower by just 6% to Rs 21.61 crore. Sale for the quarter was 9.8% lower than value of production reflecting inventory built up. In comparison the sales was 24.5% higher than value of production in the corresponding previous period reflecting liquidation earlier period inventory in corresponding previous period.
  • The operating profit margin was negative 1.7% for the quarter compared to positive 1.4% in the corresponding previous period. Negative OPM for the quarter is largely due to rise in all cost heads especially material cost. The material cost including cost of traded goods as proportion to sales net of stocks and excise was up by 270 bps to 68.9%. Similarly the staff cost and OE was up by 70 bps (to 21.9%) and 20 bps (to 10.8%) respectively. Thus the operating loss for the quarter was 0.33 crore compared to an operating profit of Rs 0.39 crore in corresponding previous period.
  • Other income was flat at Rs 0.15 crore. The interest cost and depreciation was lower by 5% (to Rs 1.13 crore) and 4% (to Rs 0.47 crore). Thus at PBT level it was a loss of Rs 1.78 crore compared to a loss of Rs 1.13 crore in the corresponding previous period. As taxation being nil, the loss at PAT level was Rs 1.78 crore compared to a loss of Rs 1.13 crore in the corresponding previous period.
  • Other comprehensive expenses were Rs 0.01 crore compared to an income of Rs 0.04 crore in the corresponding previous period. Thus the total comprehensive income was a loss of Rs 1.79 crore compared to a loss of Rs 1.09 crore in the corresponding previous period.
  • On segment basis, while the electronic business has registered a revenue growth of 50% to Rs 3.27 crore (or 16% of sales) the segment revenue of equipment components business was down by 35% (to Rs 17.26 crore or 84% of sales).
  • EBIT was a profit of Rs 0.34 crore, a fall of 67%. Segment profit of equipment was down by 85% to Rs 0.18 crore but that of electronic was a profit of Rs 0.15 crore compared to a loss of Rs 0.23 crore in the corresponding previous period.

The stock hovers around Rs 90.10.
