Shifted to net billing in Delhi
Hathway Cable and Datacom held its conference call for discussing results for quarter ended December 2014.

Key highlights:-

  • On Q-o-Q basis quarter ended December 2014, operating revenues de-grew 9% at Rs 239.15 crore. During the quarter, subscription revenue was Rs 99 crore, placement revenue was Rs 75.8 crore, activation was Rs 7.2 crore and broadband was Rs 51.3 crore. The loss at net profit level stood at Rs 58.05 crore against Rs 39.26 crore in September quarter.
  • On Y-o-Y basis, for the quarter ended December 2014, operating revenues grew 2% at Rs 239.15 crore. The loss at net profit level stood at Rs 58.05 crore against Rs 36.86 crore in the corresponding quarter of last year.
  • The company has shifted to net billing in the Delhi which brought about a revenue impact of about Rs 3 crore. In addition, tiff with several broadcasters also led to some revenue losses for the company
  • On like to like basis, the net revenue - which is net of LCO commission due to shift to net billing in Delhi comes to about Rs 229 crore, flat QoQ.
  • The impact of LCO commission in Q3 FY14 is about Rs 9 crore and in Q2 FY15 about Rs 12 crore in the last quarter.
  • The company seeded 70000 boxes in Q3.
  • The company's total cable universe stands at 11.70 mn subscribers. The company has 8.5 mn digital subscribers out of which ~6.4 mn subscribers are paying subscribers.
  • STB inventory stands at 6,00,000 boxes.
  • In Delhi, the company has shifted back to net billing. The step has had no EBITDA impact on the local cable operator (LCO) commission.
  • The average ARPU for the Phase I markets was Rs 95 and that in the Phase II markets was Rs 68 per subscriber
  • Out of avg. gross APRU of Rs 230 in phase I, LCO get Rs 100 and the company get Rs 100.
  • The company has introduced prepaid model for its LCOs in certain DAS region.
  • The company has launch HD Personal Video Recorder STB.
  • In Q3, the company launched a single HD plan all across India priced at Rs 150 per months. It has 24 HD channels.
  • The company is offering channels from the Zee TV portfolio on a cost per subscriber basis. The Star channels will be offered on a RIO basis and there would not be any carriage revenues coming in from Star channels
  • The company added 29000 subcribers in the quarter in DOCSIS 3.0 broadband. The ramp up in the segment has been coming from the demand for DOCSIS 3.0 technology, which has a user base of 113000 at the end of the quarter and 123000 at the end of January 2015. ARPU has increased from Rs 440 to Rs 490 on QoQ.. The company plans to reach about 25% penetration levels of the current home passes available in the broadband segment.
  • The margin in broadband is around 35%,
  • The company's gross debt is at Rs 1012 crore and net debt at Rs 806 crore on standalone basis. The gross debt is at Rs 1450 crore and net debt at Rs 1195 crore on consolidated basis.
