Cinemax held a conference call on 27th July, 2009 to discuss quarterly results and future growth plans. Jitendra Metha – Group CFO addressed the conference call.

Highlights of the Call

  • The topline for the currnet year is expected to be in the range of Rs 170-180 crore, while the bottomline is expected to be in the range of Rs 18-20 crore.
  • During the quarter one Multiplex has been closed down at Faridabad and one food court has been closed down at Ahmedabad.
  • The company is targeting a revenue of around Rs 4 crore from the gaming business. In a period of 3 years the revenue from the gaming business is expected to touch the 10 crore mark.
  • The cash and balance is around Rs 4 crore while the debt on books stands at Rs 75 crore.
  • The depreciation for the current quarter is higher as it includes amortization.
  • The company has re-negotiated rent at several of its properties wherein the average savings is in the range of 20-25%. The company has capacity of around 20000 seats of which around 7000 are owned. Of the remaining 13000 seats renegotiation of rent is done in around 7000-8000 seats.
  • The revenue loss on account of strike during the Q1FY'10 was around Rs 15 crore. Most of it (around 70-80%) is expected to be made up during the next 3 quarters.
  • The footfalls during the current year is expected to cross the 1 crore mark.
