Swarup is currently the director (international marketing & operations) at CONCOR.
In a regulatory filing, the company said, “On the recommendation of Nomination & Remuneration Committee, the board of directors have appointed Sanjay Swarup who is the existing Director (International Marketing & Operations), as Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of CONCOR from the date of his assumption of charge of the post on or after 1 October 2023 and till 31 July 2026 (i.e. the date of his superannuation) or until further orders, whichever is earlier.”
Swarup has done his B.E. (Hons.) – Electronics and Communication Engineering from IIT Roorkee and PGDM (Public Policy and Management) from IIM Bangalore. He has extensive experience of leadership roles in CPSE and Government.
CONCOR operates 59 terminals across the country along with two strategic tie-ups. The company's primary operation is to provide inland transportation of containers from ports using rail wagons. The company also manages cold storage chains and warehouses.
The company's consolidated net profit slipped 17.3% to Rs 245.56 crore on 3.76% decrease in revenue from operations to Rs 1,922.84 crore in Q1 FY24 over Q1 FY23.
The GOI, through the Ministry of Railways, continues to hold a majority stake of 54.8% in the company at the end of June 2023.
Shares of Container Corporation of India were down 0.35% to Rs 728.60 on the BSE.
